The Tokyo 2020 Olympics is finally here after a year-long delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year's Summer Olympics will witness staggering participation from 206 countries including Malaysia.
Malaysia will be represented by 30 athletes, who will be hoping to clinch some medals from 10 sports – archery, athletics, badminton, cycling, diving, golf, gymnastics, sailing, shooting, and swimming as below:
Archery – Khairul Anuar Mohamad and Syaqiera Mashayikh
Athletics – Azreen Nabila Alias and Lee Hup Wei
Badminton – Lee Zii Jia, Aaron Chia, Soh Wooi Yik, Soniia Cheah, Chow Mei Kuan, Lee Meng Yean, Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying
Cycling – Azizulhasni Awang and Shah Firdaus Sahrom
Diving – Nur Dhabitah Sabri, Wendy Ng, Cheong Jun Hoong, Pandelela Rinong and Leong Mun Yee
Golf – Gavin Green and Kelly Tan
Gymnastics – Jeremiah Loo and Farah Ann Abdul Hadi
Sailing – Khairulnizam Mohd Afendy, Nur Shazrin Mohd Latif, Nuraisyah Jamil and Juni Noor Jamali
Shooting – Nur Suryani Mohd Taibi
Swimming – Welson Sim and Phee Jinq En
Individual glory aside, they will look to elevate Malaysia on global standings and for the appropriate reason. We hope that every athlete that represents Malaysia can go for gold, can make our country proud.
